History:

Dharamshala's history dates back to the British colonial era when it served as a hill station and a sanatorium for British troops. However, its significance increased dramatically in 1959 when the Dalai Lama and thousands of Tibetan refugees fled to India following the Chinese invasion of Tibet. The Indian government allowed them to settle in Dharamshala, and the town became the center of the Tibetan government-in-exile. Over the years, Dharamshala has transformed into a major center for Tibetan culture, education, and politics. The Dalai Lama's presence has attracted visitors from all over the world, drawn to the town's spiritual atmosphere and the opportunity to learn about Tibetan Buddhism.
