History:
Established in 1988, Norbulingka Institute was founded by the 7th Dalai Lama, Kelsang Gyatso, and is named after his summer residence in Lhasa, Tibet. The institute was created to safeguard and revive Tibetan artistic traditions that were threatened by the Chinese invasion of Tibet. It serves as a center for learning and practicing traditional Tibetan arts, providing training to artisans and preserving ancient techniques.
