History:

Sakleshpur's history is intertwined with the Hoysala dynasty, who ruled the region from the 11th to the 14th centuries. The name 'Sakleshpur' is believed to be derived from 'Sakala-eeshwara-pura' meaning 'town of all gods', attributed to a broken Shivalinga found here.
