History:

Pawapuri holds immense historical significance as the place where Lord Mahavira, the last Tirthankara of Jainism, attained Nirvana in 527 BC. The site has been a sacred pilgrimage destination for Jains for over two millennia. The Jal Mandir, built by King Nandivardhan, Mahavira's elder brother, marks the spot of his cremation. Over the centuries, various Jain rulers and devotees have contributed to the development of Pawapuri, constructing temples and establishing religious institutions. How to reach:

The nearest airport is Patna Airport (PAT), which is approximately 100 km away. From Patna, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Pawapuri. The nearest railway station is Rajgir Railway Station, which is about 20 km from Pawapuri. Taxis and auto-rickshaws are readily available from Rajgir to reach Pawapuri. Regular bus services are also available from major cities in Bihar.
