History:
Science City, Kolkata was inaugurated on 1st July 1997 by the then Chief Minister of West Bengal, Jyoti Basu. It was conceived as a center to popularize science and technology among the masses and inspire scientific temper. The sprawling campus was developed by the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Over the years, Science City has become a prominent landmark in Kolkata and a sought-after destination for students, families, and science enthusiasts alike.
