Nightingale Park (previously known as 'The Shrubbery') offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range. A popular spot for locals and tourists alike, the park features a musical fountain, a giant statue of Lord Shiva, and well-maintained gardens. Visitors can relax on benches, stroll along the pathways, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere. Food stalls offer snacks and refreshments. The park is an ideal place to unwind, soak in the scenery, and experience the beauty of Darjeeling.
Originally a private courtyard belonging to the Maharaja of Cooch Behar, the area was later converted into a public park known as 'The Shrubbery'. In 2003, it was renovated and renamed Nightingale Park in honor of the renowned singer, Lata Mangeshkar, who performed there. The park's central location and stunning views have made it a significant landmark in Darjeeling's history, attracting visitors for over a century.
