History:
The history of Kaliya Ghat centers around the tale of Lord Krishna subduing the venomous serpent Kaliya, who had poisoned the Yamuna River with his deadly fumes. According to the legends, Kaliya was terrorizing the local villagers and polluting the river, making it unusable. Young Krishna jumped into the river and danced on Kaliya's heads until the serpent surrendered. Kaliya's wives pleaded for his life, and Krishna, mercifully, spared him but banished him from Vrindavan.
