History:
Tulsi Ghat holds immense historical and religious significance due to its connection with the renowned poet-saint Tulsidas, the author of the epic Ramcharitmanas. It is believed that Tulsidas spent a significant portion of his life in Varanasi and composed many of his works here. Legend has it that the manuscript of Ramcharitmanas was kept at this ghat. The ghat was originally known as Lolark Ghat, but it was later renamed in honor of Tulsidas. In the 18th century, the ghat was paved and made pucca by a wealthy benefactor. The ghat is also believed to be the place where Tulsidas breathed his last, further solidifying its importance in Hindu religious history.
