History:
The Rumi Darwaza was built in 1784 by Nawab Asaf-Ud-Daula, the fourth Nawab of Awadh, during a period of severe famine. The construction project served as a means of providing employment to the local population. Inspired by the Sublime Porte (Bab-ı Hümayun) in Istanbul, it's designed in the Awadhi style, a distinctive blend of Mughal, Persian, and Rajput influences. Initially conceived as an entrance to the city, it later became part of the Asafi Imambara complex.
