The Tripura Sundari Temple, also known as Matabari, is a revered Hindu shrine and one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. History:
The Tripura Sundari Temple is believed to have been constructed in 1501 AD by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya of the Tripura dynasty. Legend says the king had a divine dream instructing him to build the temple. The idol of Goddess Tripura Sundari, also known as Soroshi, is enshrined here. Over the centuries, the temple has been patronized by successive rulers of Tripura, who have contributed to its maintenance and expansion.
