Rudrasagar Lake's history is intertwined with the history of the Manikya Dynasty of Tripura. The lake was originally much larger, but its size gradually reduced due to natural and human factors. The most significant historical aspect of Rudrasagar Lake is the presence of Neermahal, built by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur in the early 20th century. He envisioned it as his summer residence. The palace blends Hindu and Mughal architectural styles and served as a retreat for the royal family.
