Originally built in 1840 by Lama Druptob Karpo, Enchey Monastery was initially located at a different site. It was later relocated to its current location in 1909. The name 'Enchey' translates to 'Solitary Temple', reflecting its secluded past. The monastery has been rebuilt twice due to fires, with the current structure showcasing a blend of traditional Tibetan and Sikkimese architecture. It holds immense religious significance for the local community and is renowned for its annual Chaam dances performed during the lunar month of January.
