According to legend, Goddess Savitri became enraged when Lord Brahma performed a yagna (ritual) with Goddess Gayatri, his second wife, without her presence. In her anger, she cursed Brahma and retreated to the Ratnagiri hill. The temple was built to commemorate this event and honor Goddess Savitri. The idol of the Goddess is believed to have self-manifested. Over time, the temple has undergone several renovations and expansions, attracting devotees and tourists alike.
