History:
Mandore served as the capital of the Marwar region before Jodhpur was established. The gardens house the cenotaphs (Devals) of Jodhpur's former rulers, built not in the typical Rajasthani chhatri style, but resembling Hindu temples. In the 14th century, the Rathore rulers shifted their capital from Mandore to the more secure Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur.
