History:
The 84 Pillared Cenotaph was commissioned by Rao Raja Anirudh Singh of Bundi in the 17th century, dedicated to his foster brother, Deva. Legend says that Rao Raja Anirudh Singh made a promise that he would pay his foster brother every time he met him. Later, Deva started keeping a count of all the meetings. When Deva died, it was found that Rao Raja owed him 8.4 million rupees. Rao Raja then built this cenotaph with 84 pillars, each representing 100,000 rupees. The cenotaph served as a memorial and a place of reverence. Over the centuries, it has become an integral part of Bundi's cultural landscape, attracting visitors with its historical significance and architectural beauty. It stands as a reminder of the bond between the two brothers.
