Established in 1962, Ushakothi Wildlife Sanctuary finds its roots in the former hunting grounds of the Zamindars (landlords) of Bamra. The name "Ushakothi" translates to "Dawn Fort," possibly referencing a historical fort or the early morning sun illuminating the region.
