History:

Bund Garden, originally constructed as a small dam and garden area by Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy in the 19th century, served as a recreational space and also helped in irrigating nearby agricultural lands. The 'Bund' in its name refers to the small dam or embankment created to control water flow. Over the years, the garden has been renovated and expanded, transforming into a well-maintained public garden. It was later dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, and officially renamed Mahatma Gandhi Udyan. While the original purpose of irrigation is less relevant today, the garden remains a significant landmark in Pune, offering a green oasis for residents and tourists alike. It stands as a testament to the city's history and its commitment to providing public spaces for leisure and recreation.
