History:

The history of Lord Point is intertwined with the development of Matheran as a popular hill station during the British Raj. While specific documented historical events directly linked to Lord Point are scarce, it's believed that the point was named after a British officer or nobleman who frequented the spot and appreciated its scenic beauty. Matheran itself was discovered in 1850 by Hugh Poyntz Malet, the then District Collector of Thane. Subsequently, Lord Point, along with other viewpoints, was developed as part of the hill station's infrastructure to attract tourists and provide vantage points for enjoying the natural landscape. It has since become a beloved spot for visitors to Matheran.
