History:

The history of Heart Point, like much of Matheran's viewpoints, is intertwined with the development of the hill station as a popular retreat during the British Raj. Hugh Poyntz Malet, the then District Collector of Thane, is credited with discovering Matheran in 1850. Subsequently, Lord Elphinstone, the Governor of Bombay, laid the foundation for its development. Heart Point, along with other viewpoints, was likely identified and named during this period, perhaps for its distinctive heart-like shape or the romantic views it offered. These points were strategically chosen to showcase the natural beauty of the region and provide respite from the heat of the plains. Over time, Heart Point has become a beloved spot for tourists seeking scenic beauty and tranquility.
