History:

Hoshang Shah, the first formally appointed Sultan of Mandu, laid the foundation for this impressive tomb. Construction began during his reign in the early 15th century and was completed by his son, Mahmud Shah I. The tomb is significant because it's believed to be the first marble structure built in India. Its design influenced later Mughal architecture, most notably the Taj Mahal. Legend says that Shah Jahan sent his architects to study the tomb before commencing work on the Taj Mahal.
