History:
The Southern Group of Temples, like the other Khajuraho temples, was built during the Chandela dynasty's reign, primarily between the 10th and 12th centuries. The Chandelas were Rajputs who rose to power in the Bundelkhand region and became renowned patrons of art and architecture. While the Western Group is the most famous, the Southern Group reflects the same artistic and religious fervor of the period. The Duladeo Temple is believed to be among the last temples built in Khajuraho, showcasing a slightly different architectural style. After the Chandela dynasty declined, the temples were largely forgotten and overgrown, only to be rediscovered in modern times and restored to their former glory.
