History:
Gohar Mahal, also known as Nazar Bagh, was built in 1820 by Qudsia Begum, also known as Gohar Begum, the first woman ruler of Bhopal. She was a bold and progressive ruler who refused to follow purdah (veil) and ruled with courage and wisdom. The palace served as her residence and a center for administrative and cultural activities. After her reign, the palace was used for various purposes, including a shelter for refugees after the partition of India. Over the years, it fell into disrepair but has since been restored to its former glory. Today, it stands as a testament to the Begum's legacy and Bhopal's rich history.
