History:
Leh Palace was built in the 17th century by King Sengge Namgyal. It served as the royal residence for the Namgyal dynasty until the mid-19th century when Dogra forces invaded Ladakh. The royal family subsequently moved to Stok Palace. Over time, Leh Palace fell into disrepair. In the late 20th century, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) undertook restoration work to preserve this important historical monument. Today, the palace stands as a testament to the region's rich history and architectural heritage, offering visitors a glimpse into the lives of Ladakh's former rulers.
