History:
St. Philomena's Church was built in 1936 under the patronage of Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. It was designed by French architect Daly in a Neo-Gothic style inspired by the Cologne Cathedral in Germany. The church stands on the site of an older church, also dedicated to St. Philomena. The Maharaja's devotion to St. Philomena led to the construction of this grand cathedral, which has since become an integral part of Mysore's history.
