History:

Chandanwari has historically served as the base camp for the Amarnath Yatra. The pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave, a holy shrine for Hindus dedicated to Lord Shiva, has been undertaken for centuries. The route traditionally started from Chandanwari. Before the development of roads, pilgrims would trek for days to reach the cave. The area's history is intertwined with the pilgrimage and the stories and beliefs associated with it. The natural beauty and challenging terrain have always attracted pilgrims and adventurers alike.
