History:

Summer Hill gained prominence during the British Raj as a popular retreat for officials seeking respite from the summer heat. It was also the site of the historic Summer Hill railway station, part of the Kalka-Shimla Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Mahatma Gandhi stayed at the Summer Hill residence of Rajkumari Amrit Kaur during his visits to Shimla.
