Arjun Gufa, also known as Arjuna's Cave, is a scenic natural cave located near the village of Prini in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India. It is believed to be the place where Arjuna, one of the Pandava brothers from the epic Mahabharata, meditated and received the Pashupatastra weapon from Lord Shiva. The cave is situated on the banks of the Beas River and offers stunning views of the surrounding valley. A small temple dedicated to Arjuna is located near the cave. Visitors can trek to the cave and explore its interiors, enjoying the serene atmosphere and the natural beauty of the area.
History:
Arjun Gufa's history is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology. The Mahabharata narrates how Arjuna performed intense penance here to please Lord Shiva and obtain the divine weapon Pashupatastra. Local legends also associate the cave with the sage Vyasa, who is said to have composed parts of the Mahabharata here. Over time, the site has become a place of pilgrimage and a popular tourist destination. The small temple near the cave is a later addition, built to honor Arjuna and the legends associated with the site.
