History:
The history of the Raghunath Temple dates back to the 17th century when Raja Jagat Singh, the ruler of Kullu, installed the idol of Lord Raghunath. Legend says that Raja Jagat Singh committed a sin and was advised by a Brahmin priest to bring the idol of Lord Raghunath from Ayodhya to atone for it. A special envoy was sent to Ayodhya, and after a long journey, the idol was brought to Kullu. Raja Jagat Singh then declared Lord Raghunath as the ruling deity of the Kullu valley, marking a significant shift in the region's religious landscape. Since then, the temple has been a central figure in the cultural and religious life of Kullu, especially during the Dussehra festival, where Lord Raghunath's chariot is the focal point of the celebrations.
