History:
Hemu, originally a grain trader, rose through the ranks to become the commander-in-chief of the Suri dynasty's army. He won 22 battles consecutively and claimed the title of Vikramaditya. In 1556, after capturing Delhi, he faced the Mughal army led by Bairam Khan, Akbar's regent, in the Second Battle of Panipat. Despite initial success, Hemu was struck by an arrow in the eye during the battle. Unconscious and incapacitated, he was captured by the Mughals and executed. The Samadhi Sthal marks the spot where this event took place. It stands as a symbol of Hemu's valor and his challenge to Mughal authority during a crucial period in Indian history.
