History:
The history of Champaner-Pavagadh dates back to the 8th century, with the establishment of a Hindu kingdom on Pavagadh Hill. In the 15th century, it was conquered by Mahmud Begada, the Sultan of Gujarat, who renamed it Muhammadabad and made it his capital. He fortified the city and built numerous mosques and palaces, reflecting Indo-Islamic architectural styles. The city flourished for a century before it was abandoned. The archaeological park now preserves the ruins of this once-great city, showcasing the fusion of Hindu and Islamic cultures and architectural influences, a testament to Gujarat's vibrant history.
