History:
Commissioned by Rao Pragmalji II in the late 19th century, the Prag Mahal was designed by Colonel Henry Saint Wilkins. Construction began in 1865 and was completed in 1879. The palace was intended to showcase the wealth and power of the Kutch royal family. The palace's design reflects a unique fusion of European and Indian architectural elements. Though damaged by the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, the palace has been partially restored and is open to the public as a tourist attraction. It stands as a symbol of the region's rich history and architectural heritage.
