History:
The history of Rauza Sharif is inextricably linked to the tragic martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh's sons, Sahibzada Fateh Singh (aged 6) and Sahibzada Zorawar Singh (aged 9) in 1705. They were captured by Wazir Khan, the Mughal governor of Sirhind, and pressured to convert to Islam. Upon their refusal, they were bricked alive within a wall. The land where they were martyred was purchased by Diwan Todar Mal, a wealthy Hindu merchant and a devout follower of Guru Gobind Singh, by paying with gold coins laid vertically on the land. He cremated their bodies with full honour. Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib was later built to commemorate their sacrifice. The site stands as a powerful symbol of courage, faith, and resistance against oppression.
