History:
Buddha Smriti Park was inaugurated in 2010 to commemorate the 2550th anniversary of Lord Buddha's Mahaparinirvana. The park was developed on the site of the old Bankipore Jail. The project aimed to create a significant Buddhist center in Patna, a city with historical connections to Buddhism. The Patliputra Karuna Stupa was built to enshrine sacred relics of Lord Buddha, which were obtained from various countries.
